What are B Lab's fees?

For 2026, one annual certification fee based on revenue, which includes average audit costs. For 2027, three fees: Application & Scoping (new companies from $250), an Annual IP License & Community Fee (from $1,470 under $5M), and an Independent Audit Fee set by the assurance provider.

B Lab U.S. & Canada publishes one 2026 fee table for both new and existing B Corps. It is based on gross revenue for your most recently closed fiscal year, and a portion covers independent audit costs for an average-complexity company. Extra audit work, such as for a higher risk profile or nonconformities, can add cost, and B Lab says it will tell you in advance.

From January 2027, the Independent Audit Fee is billed directly by the assurance provider. B Lab's fee page includes a calculator for estimating it by revenue, headcount, sector and sites. B Lab is also reducing the Annual IP License & Community Fee indefinitely for companies with $15M or less in revenue, and Equity Pricing remains available to eligible companies.

How Ecolytics helpsEcolytics doesn't change B Lab's fees, but it can reduce the extra audit work that adds cost by keeping evidence complete and organized before the auditor arrives. See it in a demo →

What does certification really cost, all in?

B Lab's fees are usually the smaller part. The bigger costs are internal time to put practices in place and document them, legal work for the B Corp legal requirement, and any consultant or software you choose. Those vary far more than the fees do.

Budget for four buckets:

  • B Lab and audit fees, from the tables below.
  • Internal time: scoping your requirements, writing policies, collecting evidence and answering auditor questions.
  • Legal: amending governing documents to meet the B Corp legal requirement, which depends on your entity type and state.
  • Outside support: optional consultants, software, or both.

B Lab estimates two to six months from submission to certification, mostly driven by how many major nonconformities need fixing, so preparation time is where most of the cost can be saved.

How Ecolytics helpsEcolytics cuts the internal time: requirements are scoped for you, document requests are tracked, and evidence sits next to the requirement it proves. See it in a demo →
